Business distress cover a wide spectrum of issues ranging from operational inefficiencies to liquidity struggles.   If not addressed properly, these issues can lead to business struggles and, potentially, business collapse.  It has been our observation that management teams who apply mostly short term solutions to their problems find short term respite but, in the end, often face longer term failure of their business.   Knowing how to balance short term fixes with longer term strategic solutions is critical.  For example, not every turnaround requires a financial restructuring but must instead focus on troublesome operational issues such as manufacturing efficiency or a better supply chain process.  However, other situations may require immediate financial restructuring simply to provide the liquidity and breathing room necessary to enact a change in strategic direction.   It is clear, a cookie-cutter approach will not work for a business turnaround to be successful.  It takes experience, focus and leadership to make business turnarounds successful.
